Which country uses the time zone 'Cape Verde Time'?

The story behind the answer

The country that uses Cape Verde Time is Cape Verde.

Cape Verde Time, abbreviated CVT, is the standard time zone for the Atlantic island nation of Cape Verde, also known internationally as Cabo Verde. It is fixed at UTC−01:00, meaning local clocks are one hour behind Coordinated Universal Time.

Cape Verde uses this offset throughout the year and does not currently change clocks for daylight saving time. The country’s islands lie far out in the Atlantic Ocean west of mainland Africa, so their time is earlier than that of nearby West African countries such as Senegal, which uses UTC±00:00.

Cape Verde Time is also distinctive because Cape Verde is the only African country observing UTC−01:00. Brazil spans several time zones, including UTC−01:00 on some remote Atlantic islands, but mainland Brazil does not use Cape Verde Time. Portugal’s mainland follows Western European Time, while the Azores use a related but separately named time zone.
