Which country is the principal setting of Assassin's Creed Valhalla?

The story behind the answer

England is the principal setting of Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

The game follows Eivor, a Viking raider who leaves Norway and establishes a settlement in England during the ninth century. The English campaign moves through several regions and kingdoms, including Mercia, East Anglia, Northumbria, and Wessex.

Norway is an important opening location and remains available later, but England contains most of the main story, settlement development, and regional alliances. The narrative brings Eivor into contact with historical figures such as Alfred the Great while continuing the series' conflict between Assassins and Templars.

Valhalla also includes expansion areas and mythological sequences, which can make its geography seem broader than the principal setting. Ireland is the focus of the Wrath of the Druids expansion, while Francia appears in The Siege of Paris. Those locations are additional content rather than the main game's primary country.
