Egypt is the main setting of Assassin's Creed Origins.
The game takes place in ancient Egypt during the first century BCE, when the Ptolemaic Kingdom was ruled by Cleopatra and later affected by Roman power. Players explore locations such as Alexandria, Memphis, Siwa, and the Giza region.
The protagonist is Bayek of Siwa, a Medjay who investigates threats to his family and community. His journey, alongside Aya, helps establish the Hidden Ones, the organization that becomes the Assassin Brotherhood in later historical periods.
Origins was released in 2017 and changed the series by adding stronger role-playing systems, including character levels, equipment rarity, and a large open world. Its title refers to the beginnings of the Assassin tradition rather than the creation of the modern video-game series.
