Japan hosted the final round of the 2023 World Rally Championship season.
The deciding event was the 2023 Rally Japan, officially known as FORUM8 Rally Japan. It ran from November 16 to 19, 2023, and was based around the central Japanese region near Nagoya. The rally used narrow, technical asphalt roads and was the thirteenth and final WRC round of the year.
Elfyn Evans and co-driver Scott Martin won the rally for Toyota Gazoo Racing, finishing ahead of teammate Sébastien Ogier. Toyota also secured the manufacturers’ championship at its home event, while Kalle Rovanperä had already secured the drivers’ title before the finale.
Japan’s placement at the end of the calendar can cause confusion with other late-season rallies, particularly Rally Chile and Central European Rally. Those events were also part of the 2023 championship, but neither was the final round. Rally Japan’s return to the calendar in 2022 and 2023 also made it a recent fixture rather than a one-off event.
