Which country has hosted the Eurovision Song Contest the most times?
Answer
United Kingdom
Answer
United Kingdom
The United Kingdom has hosted the Eurovision Song Contest the most times.
The United Kingdom has hosted the contest nine times: in 1960, 1963, 1972, 1974, 1977, 1982, 1998, 2023 and 2024. Most hosting duties followed a British victory, but the 1972 contest was held in Edinburgh after Monaco could not stage it, and the 2023 contest was held in Liverpool on behalf of Ukraine.
The UK has also appeared in the final more often than any other country because of its long participation history and strong historical results. It has won five times, most recently in 1997.
Ireland and Sweden are among the other frequent hosts, but neither has reached the United Kingdom’s total. Hosting generally rotates to the previous winner, subject to the broadcaster’s ability to organize the event.
