Which country has appeared in every FIFA World Cup tournament?

The story behind the answer

Brazil is the only country to have appeared in every FIFA World Cup tournament.

Brazil played in the inaugural competition in Uruguay in 1930 and continued to qualify for every subsequent finals tournament through Qatar 2022. This record includes tournaments held across Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Africa.

Brazil’s consistency is especially notable because many other major football nations have missed at least one edition. Germany did not participate in the 1930 tournament and was barred from the 1950 edition, while Italy failed to qualify for 2018 and 2022.

Brazil also holds the record for World Cup titles, winning five times. Its championships came in 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994, and 2002. The country’s famous yellow shirts and attacking style have made it one of the tournament’s defining teams.
