Ireland became the first country to win Eurovision three times in a row, from 1992 through 1994.
Linda Martin won for Ireland in 1992 with “Why Me?”, Niamh Kavanagh won in 1993 with “In Your Eyes,” and Paul Harrington and Charlie McGettigan won in 1994 with “Rock ’n’ Roll Kids.” The three contests were held in Malmö, Millstreet and Dublin respectively.
Ireland’s 1993 victory meant it hosted the 1994 contest in Millstreet, a small town in County Cork. After the 1994 win, Ireland hosted again in Dublin in 1995. The country therefore staged two consecutive contests during this winning run.
Ireland’s achievement is distinct from winning three times across a longer period. It remains the only country to have won three consecutive Eurovision contests. Sweden later matched Ireland’s overall total of seven victories, but not this consecutive-win record.
