Metroid Prime 3: Corruption was released for the Wii. It was designed as the third major entry in Retro Studios’ Metroid Prime trilogy and used the Wii Remote and Nunchuk as central parts of its control scheme.
The game was first shown publicly at E3 2005 and was initially planned as a Wii launch title, but development delays pushed it into 2007. Nintendo released it in North America on August 27, 2007, followed by Europe in October and Japan in March 2008. The Wii version’s pointer controls allowed players to aim and look around more directly than in the earlier GameCube Prime games.
Corruption continues Samus Aran’s conflict with Dark Samus and Phazon. It introduces Hypermode, which lets Samus spend energy to unleash stronger attacks, as well as sections where she commands her gunship.
The most likely confusion is GameCube: Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2 were originally GameCube titles, while Corruption was a Wii game. It later appeared in the Wii compilation Metroid Prime: Trilogy.
