Which console originally hosted Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater?

The story behind the answer

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater originally launched on the PlayStation 2.

Konami released the stealth-action game for Sony's console in 2004, with the Japanese edition arriving first on December 16. It was designed around the PlayStation 2 hardware and followed Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.

Snake Eater is set during the Cold War in 1964 and stars Naked Snake, who later becomes known as Big Boss. Its gameplay added survival systems such as hunger, camouflage, injuries, and treatment of specific wounds.

Later collections brought the game to additional platforms, including the Nintendo 3DS and modern collection releases. Those ports do not change its original platform: the first version was a PlayStation 2 game.
