Which composer wrote the main musical score for the original Assassin’s Creed game?

The story behind the answer

Jesper Kyd wrote the main musical score for the original Assassin’s Creed game.

Kyd’s score helped define the atmosphere of the first game through a combination of orchestral writing, electronic textures, vocal elements, and Middle Eastern-influenced sounds. The music supports the game’s contrast between medieval historical environments and its modern science-fiction storyline.

Kyd later composed music for Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. His work is therefore strongly associated with the Ezio era as well as the series’ beginning.

Later entries used different composers. Lorne Balfe scored Assassin’s Creed III, while Sarah Schachner contributed music to Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. These composers are plausible alternatives because they worked on major games in the same franchise, but they did not write the original game’s principal score.
