Which composer created the soundtrack for Mega Man 2?

Takashi Tateishi composed the soundtrack for Mega Man 2. He was credited under the pseudonym Ogeretsu Kun and created the game’s memorable stage themes, including the widely celebrated Wily Castle music.

Mega Man 2 was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in Japan in 1988 and became one of Capcom’s most influential 8-bit games. Tateishi joined Capcom around the time of the project and drew on his experience performing in a band rather than on formal classical training. His approach helped give the score a distinctive, energetic sound.

A common mix-up is the inclusion of Manami Matsumae, composer of the first Mega Man soundtrack. Her earlier work was reused for the Mega Man 2 title screen, and she co-composed a small portion of Air Man’s stage theme, but Tateishi is the principal composer credited for the sequel’s soundtrack.
