Jesper Kyd composed the music for the first two main Assassin’s Creed games.
Kyd wrote the scores for Assassin’s Creed, released in 2007, and Assassin’s Creed II, released in 2009. His music combines orchestral writing with electronic and choral elements, helping establish the series’ atmospheric sound. The first game’s score supports Altaïr’s medieval Middle Eastern setting, while the second game’s music reflects Renaissance Italy and Ezio Auditore’s story.
Kyd’s work is sometimes confused with later Assassin’s Creed scores. Lorne Balfe composed music for Assassin’s Creed III and other entries, while Sarah Schachner contributed to several later games, including Origins and Valhalla. Those composers belong to different stages of the franchise.
Kyd is also known for music in the Hitman series and other video games. His Assassin’s Creed scores remain especially associated with the franchise’s early identity and its contrast between historical settings and modern science fiction.
