Which company’s 2024 share split created ten shares for every one share held?

The story behind the answer

Nvidia’s 2024 share split created ten shares for every one share held.

Nvidia completed a ten-for-one stock split in June 2024. Each shareholder received nine additional shares for every share already owned, creating ten shares in total. The split reduced the price of each individual share while leaving the investor’s total holding value essentially unchanged at the moment of adjustment.

Stock splits do not directly create market capitalization. The company’s total market value depends on the adjusted share price multiplied by the increased number of shares outstanding. Nvidia’s split followed a dramatic rise in demand for its GPUs and related systems used in artificial-intelligence and data-center applications.

Nvidia had previously completed splits, including a four-for-one split in 2021. A split can make a stock appear more affordable per share, but it does not by itself make the company cheaper or more valuable.
