Apple was the first U.S. business to reach a $2 trillion market capitalization during 2020.
Apple crossed $2 trillion on August 19, 2020, less than two years after becoming the first U.S. company to reach $1 trillion. The achievement showed how rapidly the largest technology companies could grow in public-market value, although the valuation remained dependent on daily share-price movements.
Apple’s business combines hardware, software, and services. The iPhone remains its best-known product, while the App Store, AppleCare, iCloud, and other services contribute continuing sales after a device is purchased.
The milestone is sometimes confused with the first worldwide $2 trillion valuation. Saudi Aramco reached approximately $2 trillion in 2019, but Apple is widely recognized as the first U.S. company to attain that level and the first to do so in 2020.
