Apple was the first company to achieve a market capitalization above $3 trillion during intraday trading.
Apple briefly crossed the $3 trillion threshold on January 3, 2022, during trading on the Nasdaq. The milestone was based on the company’s share price and its outstanding shares, and the value later moved back below the level before the market closed.
Apple crossed the threshold again during 2023 and eventually recorded a closing valuation above $3 trillion in June 2023. Such milestones are not permanent rankings: share prices change every trading day, and companies can pass one another within minutes.
Apple’s valuation reflected the scale of its iPhone ecosystem as well as revenue from services, Macs, iPads, and wearables. Market capitalization should not be confused with enterprise value, which also considers debt and cash when comparing businesses.
