Apple was founded in 1976 as a computer company by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak.
The company began with the Apple I, a personal computer designed by Wozniak and marketed by Jobs. Apple later achieved wider success with the Apple II, one of the early mass-produced personal computers. These products established the company before its later expansion into portable devices and digital services.
Ronald Wayne was also a co-founder, although he left the company shortly after its creation. Apple’s history is sometimes simplified to mention only Jobs and Wozniak, but all three appear in accounts of the founding.
Apple’s modern market value rests on a much broader product ecosystem, including the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, services, and accessories. The company is incorporated in California and is headquartered in Cupertino.
