Abstergo is a modern multinational corporation associated with the Templar Order. Publicly, it presents itself as a powerful commercial organization, but its hidden leadership uses advanced technology and historical research to locate Isu artifacts known as Pieces of Eden. The company’s activities create the modern-day side of the Assassin–Templar conflict.

In the first game, Abstergo employee Warren Vidic supervises Desmond Miles’s Animus sessions. Later stories show that the corporation operates research facilities, entertainment systems, and other projects connected to its long-term plans for social control.

Abstergo is fictional and belongs to Assassin’s Creed’s modern setting. It is often confused with the Templar Order itself, but the two are not identical: Abstergo is the corporation and institutional front through which modern Templars pursue their goals.
