Ford returned to Formula One in 2026 by supporting Red Bull Powertrains.
The partnership combines Red Bull’s newly created power-unit operation with Ford’s engineering and automotive expertise. Red Bull Powertrains was established after Honda’s withdrawal from its works partnership, and Ford joined the project for the next-generation 2026 regulations. The resulting units are identified as Red Bull Ford power units.
Ford’s role is a technical collaboration rather than a return as a standalone Ford factory team. Red Bull Racing and Racing Bulls use the Red Bull Ford power unit, while the chassis, teams and race operations remain Red Bull’s. That distinction explains why the answer is Ford, not Red Bull itself.
Ford has deep Formula One history. Its Cosworth association produced many successful engines, including the Cosworth DFV era, while the Ford name was also connected with the Jaguar team before Red Bull acquired that operation. The 2026 programme therefore revives Ford’s presence in the championship in a new manufacturer-partner role.
