Honda supplies Aston Martin’s 2026 Formula One power unit.
The partnership marks Honda’s return as a full works power-unit supplier after its previous works programme ended following the 2021 season. For 2026, Honda works with Aston Martin through Honda Racing Corporation, supplying the RA626H unit for the team’s AMR26 car.
The switch followed Aston Martin’s end of its Mercedes customer arrangement. Aston Martin had used Mercedes power units since entering Formula One under its current identity, but the 2026 technical reset created an opportunity for a closer chassis-and-engine partnership. Honda was announced as Aston Martin’s new supplier in 2023.
The 2026 rules also changed the technology itself. Formula One removed the MGU-H, increased the electrical contribution from the MGU-K and required fully sustainable fuel. Those changes made integration between the engine supplier and chassis designer especially important. A common mistake is to identify Mercedes because it powered Aston Martin before 2026; for the 2026 season, the correct manufacturer is Honda.
