Which driver holds the old Spa triangle track's lap record?

Henri Pescarolo holds the recorded lap record for the old triangular Spa-Francorchamps track.

Pescarolo set the mark in 1973 during the 1000 km of Spa, driving a Matra-Simca MS670B. His 3-minute 13.4-second lap around the approximately 14.1-kilometre old circuit represented an average speed of about 262.461 km/h—an extraordinary figure for a road course with long public-road sections and minimal modern safety protection.

The wording matters because Jacky Ickx also appears in accounts of the old Spa record. Ickx set a faster 3:12.7 qualifying lap for the same 1973 event in a Ferrari 312PB, often described as the fastest lap ever recorded on the old layout. However, the official race lap record is conventionally listed under Pescarolo, making him the canonical answer to this question.

The old circuit was abandoned after the 1978 season, and a much shorter permanent layout opened in 1979. The original triangle ran through the Ardennes between Spa, Malmedy and Stavelot, unlike today’s compact Grand Prix circuit.
