Which company publishes the Mario Party series?

The story behind the answer

Nintendo publishes the Mario Party series, the party-game franchise built around Mario characters, board play, and minigames.

Nintendo owns the series and has published its home-console and handheld entries, beginning with the original Mario Party for Nintendo 64. The company’s publishing role is distinct from development: Hudson Soft developed the early mainline games, while Nintendo Cube, also known as NDcube, became the principal developer beginning with Mario Party 9.

The series has appeared across Nintendo hardware, including Nintendo 64, GameCube, Wii, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, and Nintendo Switch. Its familiar format usually has up to four players move around a board, collect coins and stars, and compete in minigames. That structure made Mario Party one of Nintendo’s best-known multiplayer franchises.

A frequent confusion is naming Hudson Soft or NDcube as the publisher. Hudson Soft was especially important because it developed many early installments, but development and publishing are different credits. Bandai Namco, Capcom, and Sega have worked on other Mario-related or arcade projects, yet none is the publisher of the Mario Party series as a whole.
