Which company owns Taobao and Tmall, two of China's best-known online marketplaces?
Answer
Alibaba Group
Answer
Alibaba Group
Alibaba Group owns Taobao and Tmall, two of China’s best-known online marketplaces.
Alibaba Group was founded in 1999 by Jack Ma and a group of co-founders in Hangzhou, China. Taobao began as a consumer-to-consumer marketplace, while Tmall developed as a platform for brands and retailers selling directly to consumers.
The group expanded beyond online retail into cloud computing, logistics, digital media, and other technology services. Alibaba’s cloud business is known as Alibaba Cloud, and its logistics affiliate is Cainiao.
Alibaba is often confused with Alipay, the digital-payments service. Alipay was originally associated with Alibaba but became part of Ant Group, a separate company with a different corporate structure.
