Alphabet operates Google Search, YouTube, and Android under its corporate structure.
Alphabet became Google’s parent company in 2015 through a corporate reorganization. Google remained the largest business within Alphabet, while other activities, including certain experimental projects, were grouped into separate “Other Bets” businesses.
Google Search, YouTube, and Android are distinct products but remain closely linked through the Google division. Search generates advertising revenue, YouTube combines advertising with subscriptions, and Android supports a broad mobile-device ecosystem.
Alphabet is often confused with Google because Google is its best-known subsidiary and brand. The distinction matters in financial reporting: Alphabet is the publicly traded parent company whose shares investors buy, while Google is the operating company that contains most of the familiar consumer services.
