Which company is the largest oil producer in Saudi Arabia and one of the world’s most valuable listed companies?

The story behind the answer

Saudi Aramco is Saudi Arabia’s largest oil producer and one of the world’s most valuable listed companies.

Saudi Aramco is the short name for Saudi Arabian Oil Company. It manages major oil and gas operations, including exploration, production, refining, chemicals, and distribution. The company’s enormous hydrocarbon reserves and production capacity have made it a central part of Saudi Arabia’s economy.

Saudi Aramco began trading shares on the Saudi Stock Exchange, Tadawul, in December 2019. The initial public offering was one of the largest in history, although only a portion of the company was offered to public investors.

Saudi Aramco was once closely associated with the Arabian-American Oil Company, created in the 1930s. Saudi Arabia gradually acquired ownership, and the company became fully state-owned in 1980. It is distinct from international private oil majors such as ExxonMobil and Shell.
