The company that co-developed Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival with Nintendo EPD was NDcube.
Amiibo Festival was released for Wii U in November 2015 as a spin-off of the Animal Crossing series. Nintendo EPD handled development alongside NDcube, a Nintendo subsidiary known for party and multiplayer games. The English Wikipedia article sometimes renders the company name as “Nintendo Cube,” but NDcube is the company’s standard stylized name and the stored answer identifies the same developer.
The game was designed as a board-game-style experience rather than a traditional Animal Crossing life simulation. Players moved across seasonal boards, collected turnips, and used Animal Crossing characters through amiibo figures. Eight Animal Crossing amiibo figures were bundled with the retail release, helping showcase Nintendo’s toy-to-game technology.
Players sometimes confuse NDcube with Intelligent Systems or Monolith Soft, both separate Nintendo-affiliated developers. DeNA was also involved in Nintendo’s mobile-game partnerships, not as the co-developer of Amiibo Festival. The game received mixed-to-negative reviews, largely because critics found its board gameplay repetitive and its amiibo requirements cumbersome.
