Which company built the Lamborghini SC63 racing car?

The story behind the answer

Ligier built the Lamborghini SC63 racing car.

The SC63 is an LMDh sports prototype developed for Lamborghini’s entry into top-level endurance racing. Lamborghini designed the car and supplied its own 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8, but Ligier served as the chassis partner. That division of work makes Ligier the canonical answer to the question about who built the car.

Lamborghini selected Ligier in 2022, becoming the first LMDh manufacturer to choose the French company as its chassis supplier. The SC63 used an LMP2-based carbon-fiber monocoque, while standardized hybrid-system components came from suppliers including Williams Advanced Engineering, Bosch and Xtrac.

The car was revealed at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed and began competition in 2024. Iron Lynx operated Lamborghini’s factory program in the FIA World Endurance Championship and IMSA SportsCar Championship. A common mix-up is naming Lamborghini as the sole builder: it was the manufacturer and design lead, while Ligier handled the chassis construction.
