Which comic storyline features Kraven the Hunter burying Spider-Man alive?
Answer
Kraven's Last Hunt
Answer
Kraven's Last Hunt
The storyline in which Kraven the Hunter buries Spider-Man alive is “Kraven’s Last Hunt.”
Written by J. M. DeMatteis and illustrated primarily by Mike Zeck, the story was published as a six-part crossover in 1987. Kraven shoots Peter Parker with a powerful tranquilizer, buries him, and then impersonates Spider-Man to prove that he can surpass his longtime enemy.
Peter eventually awakens after roughly two weeks and claws his way out of the grave. He is physically weakened and psychologically shaken, but confronts Kraven and later defeats Vermin, a cannibalistic humanoid enemy whom Spider-Man had previously needed Captain America’s help to fight.
Readers sometimes confuse this story with “The Death of Spider-Man,” which concerns a different major storyline, or with “The Night Gwen Stacy Died,” Spider-Man’s famous 1973 tragedy. “Kraven’s Last Hunt” is especially notable because Kraven’s apparent victory leads him to conclude that his life’s quest is complete.
