Which cocktail is made with gin, lemon juice, triple sec and egg white?
Answer
White Lady
Answer
White Lady
The White Lady is made with gin, lemon juice, triple sec and egg white.
The drink is a gin-based sour, with triple sec providing orange flavor and sweetness. Egg white gives the shaken cocktail a pale appearance and a silky foam, although some modern recipes omit it. The ingredients are normally shaken vigorously, often first without ice and then again with ice.
Harry MacElhone is generally credited with creating the drink in 1919 at Ciro’s Club in London. He later changed its base from crème de menthe to gin at Harry’s New York Bar in Paris, producing the form now most commonly recognized.
The White Lady is sometimes mistaken for a Sidecar because both contain citrus and orange liqueur. The Sidecar uses cognac rather than gin, and its classic formulation does not require egg white.
