Daniel Elena won nine WRC titles alongside Sébastien Loeb.

The Monégasque co-driver and French driver formed one of rallying’s defining partnerships. They first competed together in 1998 and progressed through junior and national competition before reaching the WRC with Citroën. Their first WRC victory came at Rallye Deutschland in 2002, while their first world titles arrived in 2004.

Elena and Loeb then won nine consecutive drivers’ and co-drivers’ championships from 2004 through 2012. Their success spanned several Citroën cars, including the Xsara WRC, C4 WRC and DS3 WRC. Elena’s pace-note work helped Loeb attack stages with confidence, while his organisational duties kept the crew on schedule between the timed tests.

The pair also became the winningest driver–co-driver combination in WRC history, collecting 79 rally victories together according to their established records. They briefly reunited for Loeb’s later WRC appearances, including a 2018 victory in Rally Catalunya. Julien Ingrassia later partnered Sébastien Ogier, not Loeb.
