Manchester City won 2–1 after coming from behind against Bournemouth in the 2026–27 Premier League opener.
Manchester City defeated AFC Bournemouth 2–1 at the Etihad Stadium on 23 August 2026. Bournemouth led for much of the match, but City scored twice late to turn the game around.
The victory began Enzo Maresca’s Manchester City reign with three points. It was one of two Sunday matches involving a late comeback or late equaliser, alongside Liverpool’s draw at Newcastle.
The result should not be confused with Brighton’s 4–0 victory over Aston Villa, which was the largest winning margin of the weekend. City’s match was defined instead by the timing of its goals and the reversal of the scoreline.
