Vancouver Fashion Week is hosted by Vancouver, Canada.
The event was founded by Jamal Abdourahman in 2001 and developed into an international platform for emerging and established designers. Its programming has included runway shows, presentations, and designers from Canada and many other countries.
Vancouver’s position on Canada’s west coast gives the event a distinctive connection to Pacific Rim culture and international creative exchange. The week is separate from Toronto Fashion Week and other Canadian fashion calendars, even though designers can participate in more than one event.
The name can create confusion because Vancouver Fashion Week is both the event and the city’s fashion-week brand. The answer is therefore the city itself, not a venue or a Canadian national fashion organization.
