In 2026, stage 21 was scheduled to start at Thoiry and finish in Paris. Wildfires and related emergency-response demands led organisers to shorten the stage and alter its opening arrangements, but the finish remained in the French capital. That distinction matters: a stage may have its start or route changed without changing the officially designated finishing city.
Paris has hosted the Tour’s final finish since 1975, when the race moved from the traditional finish at the Parc des Princes. The Champs-Élysées finale is especially associated with sprint finishes, although the overall winner is usually decided before the final day.
