Paris hosts Paris Fashion Week, the French capital’s major twice-yearly runway event.
Paris Fashion Week is one of the “Big Four” international fashion weeks, alongside New York, London and Milan. Its official calendar includes ready-to-wear shows and presentations by established fashion houses and newer labels.
The event is coordinated through France’s fashion industry structure, with the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode publishing official schedules for Paris collections. Shows take place at changing venues across the city rather than in one permanent building.
Paris Fashion Week is often confused with Paris Haute Couture Week. Haute couture has a separate official calendar and stricter membership and craftsmanship requirements, while the ready-to-wear week is the broader event most commonly meant by “Paris Fashion Week.”
