Which city hosted Joan of Arc’s condemnation trial in 1431?

The story behind the answer

Rouen hosted Joan of Arc’s condemnation trial in 1431.

Rouen was then under English control and served as the administrative center of English power in Normandy. Joan was transferred there after her capture and held in the city while the church court conducted its proceedings.

The trial began in January 1431 and continued through questioning, examinations, and formal articles of accusation. The proceedings culminated in Joan’s condemnation for heresy and related charges.

Rouen is also where Joan was executed on 30 May 1431. The city therefore appears throughout accounts of both the trial and its immediate aftermath. A later rehabilitation inquiry, however, was conducted decades afterward and overturned the original judgment.
