Which city hosted Eurovision 2015, the contest’s 60th edition?

The story behind the answer

Vienna hosted Eurovision 2015, the contest’s 60th edition.

The 2015 contest took place at the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna, Austria. The semi-finals were held on 19 and 21 May, followed by the final on 23 May. Austria hosted after Conchita Wurst won the 2014 contest for the country with “Rise Like a Phoenix.”

The 2015 edition was especially notable because Australia was invited to compete directly in the final as a special guest for the anniversary event. Australia finished fifth with Guy Sebastian’s “Tonight Again.” The contest had 27 final participants, one of the largest finals at that time.

Vienna had hosted Eurovision once before, in 1967. The 2015 event was therefore both the 60th contest and the Austrian capital’s second time as host city.
