Which circuit hosts the Italian Grand Prix?
Answer
Autodromo Nazionale di Monza
Answer
Autodromo Nazionale di Monza
The Italian Grand Prix is hosted by the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, commonly called the Monza Circuit. Located near Milan, it is one of Formula 1’s most historic venues and is famous for its long straights, fast corners, and passionate Italian fans.
Monza opened in 1922 inside the Royal Villa of Monza park. Its original layout included a high-speed oval with steeply banked corners, but modern Formula 1 races use a shorter road circuit featuring famous sections such as the Curva Grande, the Lesmo turns, Variante Ascari, and Parabolica, now named Curva Alboreto.
The track’s nickname, the “Temple of Speed,” reflects its character. Cars spend a large proportion of the lap at full throttle, so teams typically use low-downforce aerodynamic setups. That makes straight-line speed and braking stability especially important.
A common mix-up is Imola, another Italian circuit that has hosted Formula 1 races. Imola hosted the Italian Grand Prix only in 1980 while Monza was being renovated; it is more closely associated with the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix.
