Which church did C.S. Lewis attend near his home in Oxford?

The story behind the answer

C.S. Lewis attended Holy Trinity Church in Headington Quarry near his Oxford home. The Anglican church became closely associated with Lewis during the later part of his life.

Lewis worshipped there regularly and was buried in the churchyard after his death in 1963. His brother Warren Lewis was also connected with the church, and the site contains a memorial to C.S. Lewis. The church therefore became an important place of remembrance for readers and visitors.

Holy Trinity Church is sometimes confused with Magdalen College Chapel, where Lewis worked, or with Christ Church Cathedral, another prominent Oxford religious building. Lewis’s professional association was with Magdalen College, but his local parish church was Holy Trinity at Headington Quarry. Joy Davidman’s Christian marriage ceremony with Lewis was also held there in 1957.
