Which Chopard watch collection, launched in 1976, is known for diamonds that move freely between two sapphire crystals?

The story behind the answer

Chopard’s Happy Diamonds collection, launched in 1976, is known for diamonds that move freely between two sapphire crystals.

The concept was created after designer Ronald Kurowski observed sunlight sparkling through a waterfall. Chopard developed a construction in which individually moving diamonds could slide around the dial or case while remaining visible through transparent protective surfaces.

The design became a signature of the house and was applied to watches, rings, pendants and other jewelry. Instead of fixing the stones directly to the dial, the construction lets them move with the wearer’s motion.

Happy Diamonds is separate from Chopard’s Mille Miglia collection, which draws on classic motorsport and was launched in 1988. The name “Happy Diamonds” refers to the lively movement and sparkle of the stones.
