Nvidia first reached a $3 trillion market capitalization in June 2024.
Nvidia crossed the $3 trillion level on June 5, 2024, as investors bought shares in the company that designs many of the graphics processors used for artificial intelligence computing. Its market value rose dramatically as cloud providers and technology companies invested heavily in AI data centers.
Nvidia’s GPUs began as processors for computer graphics and video games, but the same parallel-processing capability made them highly useful for training and running machine-learning models. The company also built a powerful software ecosystem around its hardware, including the CUDA platform.
Nvidia’s ranking was helped by a 10-for-1 stock split in June 2024, which reduced the per-share price without changing the company’s total market value. A stock split changes share count and price, not the underlying value of shareholders’ ownership.
