Which chart did Taylor Swift’s “august” enter at number 23 in the United States?

Taylor Swift’s “august” entered the United States Billboard Hot 100 at number 23.

The song debuted on the chart dated August 8, 2020, shortly after Folklore’s release. Its arrival was part of a remarkable chart showing for the album: multiple Folklore tracks entered the Hot 100 at the same time, reflecting the enormous first-week interest in Swift’s surprise release.

The number 23 refers to the general U.S. Billboard Hot 100, which ranks songs using a combination of streaming activity, sales, and radio airplay. It should not be confused with the Billboard 200, which ranks albums, or with genre-specific charts.

“august” remained on the Hot 100 for two consecutive weeks. Later August listening surges helped the song return to attention, but its initial U.S. debut position was number 23. The song’s different peaks on alternative and global charts are separate statistics.
