Which character studies Pokopia’s damaged environment?

Professor Tangrowth studies Pokémon Pokopia’s damaged environment. This character is a Tangrowth who has taken on the role of a professor and investigates why humans and Pokémon left the world.

After Ditto awakens and begins exploring, it meets Professor Tangrowth and becomes involved in restoring habitats. Tangrowth’s research gives the rebuilding project a narrative purpose: the player is not merely decorating an island, but helping investigate an environmental mystery and making the world habitable again.

Professor Tangrowth is distinct from the human professors who introduce players to Pokémon regions in the main series. Professor Oak, Rowan, and Sycamore are established researchers from other games. In Pokopia, the professor is itself a Pokémon, reflecting the spin-off’s unusual post-human setting.
