Which character is the main playable Assassin in Assassin's Creed III?

The story behind the answer

Connor Kenway is the main playable Assassin in Assassin's Creed III.

Connor's Kanien'kehá:ka name is Ratonhnhaké:ton, and he becomes involved with the Assassin Brotherhood during the American Revolution. The game follows his efforts to protect his people and oppose Templar plans while moving through the colonial setting of the eighteenth-century United States.

Connor is the son of Haytham Kenway, who is introduced as a Templar and is also playable during part of the game. This father-and-son relationship is central to Assassin's Creed III's story and creates one of the series' most notable conflicts.

Connor is also Edward Kenway's grandson, linking him to Black Flag. Desmond Miles remains the modern-day character, but Connor is the historical protagonist most associated with the main campaign.
