Beyoncé voiced Nala in Disney's 2019 photorealistic remake of The Lion King. Nala is a lioness who grows up with Simba and later helps him return to Pride Rock.
The 2019 film was directed by Jon Favreau and re-created the story of Disney's 1994 animated film using computer-generated imagery designed to look photorealistic. Donald Glover voiced Simba, while James Earl Jones reprised his role as Mufasa.
Beyoncé also contributed the song “Spirit” to the film's soundtrack. She curated The Lion King: The Gift, a companion album inspired by the movie and released in 2019.
Nala is sometimes confused with Sarabi, Simba's mother, or Kiara, Simba's daughter from The Lion King II: Simba's Pride. Those are separate characters. In the 2019 remake, Beyoncé's credited role is specifically the adult Nala.
