Beyoncé voiced Nala in Disney’s 2019 film The Lion King.
Nala is a lioness who grows up alongside Simba and later becomes his mate and queen. In the 2019 photorealistic computer-animated remake, Beyoncé supplied Nala’s speaking voice and singing voice, including a performance of “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” with Donald Glover, who voiced Simba.
The film reimagined Disney’s 1994 animated classic with a largely new voice cast while retaining many story elements and songs from the original. Beyoncé’s casting attracted substantial attention because it marked a major acting and voice-performance role within one of Disney’s best-known franchises.
Beyoncé also contributed to the companion album The Lion King: The Gift, which she curated and executive-produced. That album inspired the later visual album Black Is King.
