Which character becomes the playable Assassin protagonist of Assassin’s Creed Rogue?

Shay Patrick Cormac becomes the playable protagonist of Assassin’s Creed Rogue.

Shay begins the game as an Assassin during the eighteenth-century Seven Years’ War. After a disastrous mission and a growing disagreement with the Brotherhood, he defects and joins the Templars. Rogue therefore reverses the usual viewpoint: the player experiences the conflict largely through a character hunting former Assassin allies.

Liam O’Brien is Shay’s Assassin companion, while Adéwalé is a different Assassin associated with Freedom Cry and Black Flag. Charles Dorian is Arno’s father in Unity. Rogue was released in 2014 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, alongside Unity on newer consoles, and its story connects directly with characters and events from Black Flag and Unity.
