Which channel separates the Isle of Man from Ireland?
Answer
Irish Sea
Answer
Irish Sea
The Irish Sea separates the Isle of Man from Ireland.
The Isle of Man sits in the northern part of the Irish Sea, roughly between Ireland and Great Britain. The island is a self-governing Crown Dependency, not part of the United Kingdom, although the United Kingdom is responsible for its defence and international relations. Douglas, the island’s capital, is on its eastern coast.
The Irish Sea includes several named approaches and neighboring passages. The North Channel lies north of the Isle of Man and connects the Irish Sea with the open Atlantic between Northern Ireland and Scotland. St George’s Channel lies farther south, between Ireland and Wales. These names describe parts or approaches of the wider maritime region, but the body of water around the Isle of Man is the Irish Sea.
