Which CEO of Dell founded the company in 1984?

The story behind the answer

Michael Dell founded the company that became Dell in 1984. While he was a freshman at the University of Texas, he started PC’s Limited with $1,000 and pursued a direct-sales model for custom-built personal computers.

Rather than selling only through traditional retail channels, Dell’s early business allowed customers to order systems configured to their needs. This approach reduced inventory costs and gave the company direct information about what buyers wanted. PC’s Limited later became Dell Computer Corporation, and the business grew into a global technology company.

Dell briefly stepped down as CEO in 2004, but returned to the position in 2007. The company later became private in a 2013 buyout and combined with EMC in 2016 to form Dell Technologies. Michael Dell has remained its chairman and CEO. The other options are famous technology or business figures, but none founded Dell.
