Which CEO of Cisco served from 1995 to 2015?
Answer
John Chambers
Answer
John Chambers
John Chambers was Cisco’s CEO from 1995 to 2015.
Chambers joined Cisco in 1991 after working in technology sales at IBM and Wang Laboratories. He became chief executive in 1995, helping transform Cisco from a networking-equipment company into a major provider of routers, switches, and related technologies. Cisco’s aggressive acquisition strategy and the expansion of the internet helped drive extraordinary growth during his tenure.
Chambers also became Cisco’s board chairman in 2006. Under his leadership, the company’s annual sales grew from about $1.9 billion to $49.2 billion. He stepped down as CEO in 2015, and Chuck Robbins succeeded him on July 27. A common mix-up is choosing Robbins because he is Cisco’s later CEO, or selecting Larry Ellison or Marc Benioff, who led Oracle and Salesforce respectively. “John Chambers” is the standard short form of his full name, John T. Chambers.
