Which Catholic saint is the patron saint of lost articles and was born Fernando de Bulhões?

The story behind the answer

Anthony of Padua is the Catholic patron saint of lost articles and was born Fernando de Bulhões.

Fernando was born in Lisbon in 1195 and first joined the Augustinian canons. After seeing the bodies of Franciscan martyrs returning from Morocco, he became a Franciscan and took the name Anthony.

Anthony became famous as a preacher and teacher of theology. He worked in Italy and southern France and eventually settled in Padua, where he died in 1231. Pope Gregory IX canonized him in 1232, less than a year after his death, an exceptionally rapid canonization.

Devotion to Anthony as the finder of lost things is linked to a story that a novice took his treasured psalter and later returned it. The saint is sometimes confused with Saint Anthony the Great, an Egyptian monk associated with early monasticism.
