Which cathedral complex in Córdoba incorporates the former Great Mosque of Córdoba?

The story behind the answer

The Mosque–Cathedral of Córdoba incorporates Córdoba’s former Great Mosque.

The site began as a Christian church before Abd al-Rahman I founded the Umayyad mosque in 785. Later rulers expanded the mosque, creating its famous forest of columns and red-and-white horseshoe arches.

After the Christian conquest of Córdoba in 1236, the building was converted into a cathedral. A Renaissance cathedral nave and transept were inserted into the mosque interior during the sixteenth century, producing the unusual combined structure visible today.

The monument is often called the Mezquita by Spanish speakers, while its official name emphasizes its present Christian use. The surviving mosque architecture is especially associated with the medieval Umayyad caliphate of Córdoba.
